Our Colorful Neighborhood
In the Washington, DC neighborhood of 14th and U Streets NW, I have "digitally amplified" the kinds of assessments we make on a regular basis as we pass different establishments. Each facade has gender, sexual orientation, income level or ethnic background encoded into it. We are more aware of this depending on which categories we feel we belong in. Community is not just a physical space,
but also a mental one.
